A Gandolfi

Research Interests

A. Jay Gandolfi’s research addresses the health effects on environmental pollutants such as metals (e.g. arsenic) and solvents (e.g. trichloroethylene). He is an Emeritus Professor (PhD) in the College of Pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and also has an appointment in the ABOR Center for Toxicology. Previously he was Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Pharmacy. His studies examine the low-level toxic effects of environmental pollutants using human cell cultures of target organs. Additional studies have involved assessing the disposition and toxic effects of environmental pollutants on at-risk populations in Arizona as well as in Mexico. Dr. Gandolfi has almost 300 peer-review publications and has sustained federal funding throughout his 35 years at the University of Arizona.
