Larry Lee Peterson

Research Interests

Dr. Larry Peterson Ph.D., is the Robert E. Kahn Professor of Computer Science at the University of Arizona, a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, Co-Founder of CoBlitz LLC (a CDN technology startup that was acquired by Akamai in 2012), and Chief Architect of the Open Networking Lab, Fellow of the ACM and the IEEE. Dr. Peterson is the recipient of the IEEE Kobayashi Computer and Communication Award, along with the the ACM SIGCOMM Award and served served as Emeritus at Princeton University, where he served as Chair from 2003-2009. At the University of Arizona, he is the Instructor of a course on applying programming constructs and algorithmic thinking to real-world problems in science, engineering, and commerce. Dr. Peterson received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1985. Dr. Peterson’s research focuses on the design, implementation, and deployment of Internet-scale distributed systems, including the widely used PlanetLab and MeasurementLab platforms, along with his current project on a new cloud-based platform: OpenCloud.
