BIO5 coordinates this annual event that draws K-12 teachers from across the State. The Symposium features professional development workshops, speakers and a science education outreach resource fair.

Workshops
BIO5 collaborates with the Pima County Regional Support Center on a professional development program for pre-school teachers interested in bringing science to young children (ages 2-6). For more details, contact Stacey Forsyth at or 626-8124
Research opportunities for teachers
BIO5 collaborates with other UA units to provide immersive laboratory research experiences to science teachers.
BIO5 supports two NSF-funded GK-12 (Graduate Fellows in K-12 Education) programs that partner science graduate students with K-12 educators:
- BioME (Biodiversity from Molecules to Ecosystems)
- CATTS (Collaboration to Advance the Teaching of Technology and Science)
