The University of Arizona, College of Engineering seeks applications from established scientists for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Candidates with a highly-visible, externally-funded research program in any area of biosensors research, development, and application are encouraged to apply. Extensive expertise and infrastructure in biosensor research and development exists at The University of Arizona, providing rich opportunities for the successful candidate to nucleate interdisciplinary collaborations and realize a vision for world class research. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the College of Engineering with the opportunity for one or more secondary appointments in related colleges such as Science and Medicine. biology-based challenges affecting humanity. The successful candidate is anticipated to have a secondary appointment as a Research Fellow in the BIO5 Institute and will dedicate 75%  of their University effort to their research program for the duration of the  appointment.

Public Affairs Events Assistant

The BIO5 Institute (BIO5.org) is a collaborative scientific research enterprise at UA that combines ‘5’ unique academic disciplines to promote the discovery of bold solutions to some of today’s most important biological challenges. 

We’re looking for an exceptional student to join our team as an Events Assistant. This is a professional position that will be an excellent resume-building experience for the right person. You will learn a lot, work hard, and have fun as part of a motivated, creative team. Students play a key role at BIO5, and have the exciting opportunity to learn about and promote the meaningful impact of our research to the public.

The Student Events Assistant will work directly with the Manager of Marketing and Events to coordinate BIO5 events and tour activities with responsibilities to include working with vendors in catering and event set-up, arranging venues, coordinating registration, maintaining event website content, assisting with event promotion and metric reporting, and leading tours.

Ability to confidently and professionally interact with University faculty, researchers, community VIP’s, and senior staff and leadership
Outstanding work ethic and character
Must want to learn and work hard – this is a professional position

Public Affairs KEYS Internship Student Assistant


The BIO5 Institute (BIO5.org) is a collaborative scientific research enterprise on campus that combines ‘5’ unique academic disciplines (agriculture, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and basic science) to promote the discovery of bold solutions to some of today’s most important biological challenges.

One of the avenues of research exploration that we support is through our KEYS (Keep Engaging Youth in Science) Research Internship program. The KEYS Internship brings motivated Arizona high school students to the UA campus to complete laboratory internships during the summer. This student position primarily supports the KEYS program and assists with other BIO5 outreach events and marketing.

The position requires 20 hours per week commitment throughout the calendar year. Summer availability is required.

 Attend and lead recruitment events
 Organize physical and virtual intern application materials
 Schedule intern interviews and prepare interview materials
 Coordinate printing of intern pre-readings and laboratory notebooks
 Schedule program events
 Reserve rooms and materials for program events
 Lead set-up and recovery of program events
 Participate as a KEYS Crew Mentor to current interns
 Visit interns in their laboratories
 Coordinate socials for interns
 Set-up, attend, and recover all program events during the summer
 Maintain and update program social media sites
 Complete other general administrative duties as needed
 Ability to collaborate with a diverse workgroup

This student position involves:

 Approximately 20 hours/week, normally between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday
 Flexible schedule, with occasional weekend or evening hours
