UArizona Study Finds No Significant Sex Difference in Heart Treatment

Past studies on the treatment of heart disease patients have shown that men were more likely to be prescribed treatment like aspirin, beta-blockers and statins than women. In contrast, a new study at two large hospitals found no significant difference in the prescription of appropriate medications for men and women with this disease. With these findings, Dr. Shu-Fen Wung, associate professor of nursing, plans to examine why 10% of men and women may still not be getting the correct treatment to manage their disease.
